Goca Games - Logo Evolution

The Goca Games logo has changed a lot since the beginning. It’s been a few years since I last modified it, mainly because I really love the hedgehog. In this post, I’ll look back at the early logos and how they evolved over time.
The very first and original one was made by arranging the letters in GOCA so they formed a kind of face, almost like a small owl. I honestly love this logo, but it’s a bit hard to read. It never appeared in any game, since I changed it shortly after starting the project.

The next logo, which does appear in my first games, was a variation of the original but shaped like the character Hei. I still really like this one, and I wouldn’t rule out using it again someday.

With that logo, I also created some images that hinted at future games I wanted to make. Some of them have already become real projects.

Here you can see the process I followed to reach the Hei logo, trying countless versions and different combinations of the letters.
And then we arrive at the current logo, which didn’t start exactly as it looks today. It went through several iterations. The first version had a longer snout and a tail. In the next version, the snout became shorter, and in the final one, the tail disappeared (since hedgehogs have such tiny tails that they’re barely visible).
This logo actually comes from an enemy I designed for a game I wanted to make, which still hasn’t become a real project. But who knows, maybe in the future.

Using this logo’s style, I also created others for different Goca Games-related projects.
And that’s it. For now, there won’t be any more changes. But knowing me, I sometimes get sudden creative urges, so there might be new variations one day. In fact, I already have a few sketched out.
