Little Reviews - March 2023

As always these are subjective opinions; I'm not trying to write a professional review. I'm just sharing my perspective and the experience I had with each of them.

🎮 VIDEO GAMES

Bayonetta 3 👠

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

I have mixed feelings about this game. It was fun, but the Bayo formula is kinda repetitive by now, and it didn't feel that new, although they added the demons summoning and Viola gameplay. Problem: I really don't like Viola's design since the beginning, so... But her transformation is cool. The story was going fine till it gets too messy at the end. I guess they are going for a reboot in the next game? I don't get that decision, but okay. Can't wait to play the Cereza game, though.

Metroid Prime Remastered 👾

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★★★★☆☆

First time playing a Metroid Prime; well, actually, I've only played Dread before this one, so I'm a Metroid newbie. It is an amazing game; I enjoyed it sooo much and couldn't stop playing. Maybe no teleport is a big mistake, and also, I hate when games have their whole story in texts; I don't know who reads that, but for sure not me. I would have liked to know the story though; I'll have to watch a YouTube video, but cutscenes were missing in this game. Everything else is really good; the bosses were creative and fun to beat (not the last one).

Lil Gator Game 🐊

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★★★★★☆

A short cute adventure. I had so much fun playing this game, and it brought me back to my childhood. Loved being this little gator running around breaking things. Really recommended!

Isoland 3: Dust of the Universe 🪐

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★★★★☆☆

I really like Isoland games; they are difficult but make sense in their own way. I enjoy them so much. This one was maybe easier, especially the second run, which normally is way more difficult than the first one, but this time it was kinda at the same level. I love that even though it's the third game they made, the puzzles don't feel repetitive by now.

Isoland: The Amusement Park 🎠

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

I found out there was another Isoland game I hadn't played! This one was more focused on getting items and using them, but the puzzles were really clever too. I got stuck 2 times, and my brain was running wild. The second run had lots of different puzzles this time, so that was great. The only bad thing I have to say is that the art felt more empty this time.

Papetura 📜

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆

I tried Papetura months ago and dropped it because I found it desperately slow. Yesterday I tried again because the art is stunning. Still, the game is too slow; it feels like a 30-minute adventure stretched to last 2 hours. The art is a 10, but the gameplay is missing a lot of substance.

Blanc 🦌

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

A short interesting indie game. I played it alone, which was a bit tedious, and I'm guessing coop is a better experience. Still, solo gameplay is messy, it always is when you have to move two characters at the same time with one controller (happened the same with Brother). The art is cute, and the story too, but the gameplay could be more varied.

Hidden Paws Mystery 🐈‍⬛

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆

I was expectinf more, it's just the first one but in different scenarios. The camera controls didn't get better and still tedious on Switch. I still love the concept.

The Legend of Bum-Bo 💩

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

A match-4 roguelike. It's a fun game to play with cute art and an original gameplay. My problem with roguelikes is that they end up being too repetitive, this one is not an exception. I was missing something more maybe, not just fight after fight.

Ankora Lost Days 🚀

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

I love Chibig games; they are always so cute and wholesome. I like the variety of missions for every character. You can tell Ankora was originally a mobile game, but it's well adapted and quite enjoyable. Can't wait for the games they are making for this year!

Cereza and the Lost Demon 🧚

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★★★★☆☆

This game is amazing; the art is astonishing, and the gameplay is really fun. It gets a little bit repetitive by the end, but it's really good. The story is interesting too, probably my favorite Bayo game (I prefer this genre than hack and slash).

Lumote: The Mastermote Chronicles 🪼

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Score: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

A charming 3D puzzle-platformer game. I liked it, and the puzzles are well-designed; sometimes it makes you feel clever, which is a sign of a good puzzle game. The art is cute too. It gets a little bit repetitive, and some solutions feel just random, but it is entertaining.

📺 SHOWS

The Last of Us 🦒

Season: 1 / Platform: HBO Max / Score: ★★★★★★★★★☆

This is how you make a video game adaptation. They kept it so close to the original story, and with such amazing actors, it translates into such an amazing show. I looooved the monsters' makeup.

Daisy Jones & the Six 🎤

Season: 1 / Platform: Amazon Prime / Score: ★★★★★★★★★☆

This show is so, so, so good; I really recommend it. The actors are all so talented, the music is amazing, and the story feels so real and honest. I loved every episode.

Manifest ✈️

Season: 1 / Platform: Netflix / Score: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

To be honest, I kept watching because it really reminded me of Lost, which I kinda miss. I ended up liking it; it's not the best show and there's some unnecessary drama, but it's entertaining.

The Circle ⭕

Season: 5 / Platform: Netflix / Score: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

I was getting kinda bored of the formula and almost dropped this show, but this season was actually pretty entertaining. I liked most of the contestants, and the winner was one of my faves.

🎨 ANIMATION

The Secret Life of Pets 2 🐯

Platform: Netflix / Score: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

It is cute and fun, but the plot is kinda messy and goes all over the place with a rushed ending. Loved the cats.

📺 FILMS

The Babysitter 🔪

Platform: Netflix / Score: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

This was a fun movie. The plot is so dumb, I liked it. I'm ready for the sequel now.

The Babysitter: Killer Queen 🐰

Platform: Netflix / Score: ★★★★★★★★☆☆

Loved it, I laughed a lot. Will there be a 3rd part? I mean, everything is pretty finished, but then that last scene??? Well, I'm here for it.

Full Metal Alchemist: The Last Alchemy 🚪

Platform: Netflix / Score: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆

Well, the trilogy is kinda lame, like almost all live-adaptations of animes, but it was nice to remember the story of FMA. The CGI is so bad that it makes it camp.

La Tribu 👯

Platform: Netflix / Score: ★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Really bad.
