Little Reviews - January 2024

As always, these are subjective opinions; I'm not trying to write a professional review. I'm just sharing my perspective and the experience I had with each of them.

🎮 VIDEO GAMES

Faerie Afterlight 🧚‍♀️

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Developers: Clay Game Studio

A metroidvania that mostly feels like a regular 2D platformer to be honest, there's 0 exploration. Still, I enjoyed it. The art is cute and polished, and the gameplay has some varied and well combined mechanics. The main problem for me is that some design decisions make the game kinda frustrating at some points, specially the bosses and the plants that make you respawn, also, the controls could be a little better. Score: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆ (7/10)

Isoland 4 🪶

Platform: iOS / Developers: Cotton Game

I’m probably the hugest fan of Isoland. I love it and this game didn’t disappoint. I love it, and this sequel didn't disappoint me. Furthermore, I also like that each installment has unique and original mechanics.

Score: ★★★★★★★★☆☆ (8/10)

No More Heroes 3 👽

Platform: Nintendo Switch / Developers: Grasshopper Manufacture

I've killed two of the aliens, and that's it. The first two installments I loved, but I think this series has become stagnant in this installment and is no longer as innovative as before. Repetitive and clunky combat. The 'open world' itself didn't work in the first installment, and now they give it more importance… Poor design decisions everywhere. Still, the art remains very cool, tacky but stylish. And character design is great as always. It's a pity.

Score: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ (5/10)

📺 SHOWS

Berlin 📢

Season: 1 / Platform: Netflix

Not bad, but just like La Casa de Papel, there's too much unnecessary drama to stretch things out. I could do without a bit of Berlin in the series. I take some iconic moments and the new characters.

Score: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆ (7/10)

Todos Mienten 🔪

Season: 1 / Platform: Movistar Plus+

Without further ado, the truth. Some actors do well, against many who don't do too well here. The story is entertaining, but nothing out of this world.

Score: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ (5/10)

Griselda ❄️

Season: 1 / Platform: Netflix

Sofia Vergara is impeccable; I really like how she acts. The script of the series, well... too fast, as if they were in a hurry to finish. Besides, I've read that they've made up a lot of things, and Griselda's personality wasn't like that. I understand it's fiction, but a bit more faithful to reality would surely be more interesting. That said, very well done and quite engaging.

Score: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆ (7/10)
